
The Ghana Co-Operative Susu Collectors Association (GCSCA) at the National Stakeholders’ Conference held at True Vine Hotel, Kumasi on July 12, 2018 has officially launched the digitization of Susu operations in Ghana. The conference dubbed “Digitization as a Secure and Effective Approach to Susu Operations in Ghana” saw stakeholders from all over the world in attendance.
Speaking to the stakeholders on the theme, Mr. Christopher Kansanda, the keynote speaker relays that the digitization of Susu operations will go a long way in ensuring efficiency since it will enhance trust in the system. According to him, “A stakeholder will have an easy access to pull data” at any time for verification. With digitization one needs not to get worried about data management or storage, or natural disasters where data might be lost.
He added that the digitization will improve supervision and monitoring and also easy accountability thereby ensuring and increasing customer Value and satisfaction. Mr. Christopher Kansanda emphasized on the fact that digitization is keen to increasing productivity and mitigating risk.
Digitization he says is the solution to some Members and Customer associated risks in the susu operations such as Fake Agents, Natural Disaster, Accessing funds, monitoring, problem of data management and cost; and he reiterated that digitization has come to stay.
In an exclusive interview with Microfinance Watch TV, Mr. Yaw Gyamfi, the Executive Director of the Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN) maintains that, digitization is a major key to bringing on board the unbanked thus those who are without an account at any financial institution and thereby considered to be outside the mainstream; a tool for financial inclusion.
